Diagramas

Plinio creates a series of conceptual yuxtaposition paintings.

The artist found in the city of Paris hundreds of landscape paintings for wholesale. These paintings where made in China by anonymous artists who created landscapes for house decoration n the Western market. These paintings follow patterns of composition intended to appeal more to the Occidental viewer than their own.

Plinio have painted on top of these landscapes the diagrams and texts that reflect and contrast these issues of the meaning of beauty in a crossscultural  perspective. These are mainly diagrams of the French classicism period on Art History.

The project “Diagrams” is a study on the concept painting.

These works were born in China, they travelled to Europe and were fused together in México. Now they return to China not only as a witness of their journey but as a reminder of how Art can bring us together.
